Description
Job Purpose:-
International Medical Corps provides community-based child protection services to vulnerable populations, requiring a strategic and comprehensive approach to addressing child protection concerns.
Reporting to the Child Protection Coordinator, the Child Protection Officer is responsible for providing support to the child protection (CP) program to ensure it is in line with child protection quality standards.
Main Responsibilities:-
- Support the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of CP activities, in particular, related to the training and capacity building of local organizations.
- Support the drafting of program strategy, planning documents, and proposals.
- Assist in designing and developing child protection programs and activities within the program strategy.
- Assist in the development of tools, guidelines, and frameworks for program implementation.
- Participate and support in preparing and implementing need assessments.
- Work closely with partner child protection staff to identify child protection issues and inform evidence-based programming.
- Ensure regular follow-up with partner focal points on project activities to maintain quality and identify opportunities and constraints.
- Support implementation of IMC Child Safety and Safeguarding policies, both internally and externally with partners.
- Assist the CP Coordinator in assessing and designing child protection capacity-building plans for staff and partners.
- Deliver child protection coaching and monitoring sessions, training, and briefings.
- Support staff and partners in the development and implementation of child safety checklists, child safeguarding policy, and other tools
- Contribute to donor reporting.
- Participate in internal child protection meetings with regional and global colleagues.
- Contribute to the development/revision of child protection materials
- Circulate child protection materials and other useful and relevant information with staff and partners.
- Internal and external coordination and representation.
- Support CP Coordinator to represent IMC externally in relevant platforms/networks focused on child protection themes.
- Report to Program Manager/CP Coordinator. He/she is accountable for the beneficiaries and for IMC on the quality of activities and services delivered under his/her responsibility.
- Work closely with the Senior Program Officer/Program Manager, to understand the program, goals, and objectives as well as to be well accustomed to IMC strategy; coordinate with relevant actors on the field as well as at the site level and collect information about the needs and gaps so to contribute to the development of new programming.
- Assist in the ongoing assessment and analysis to understand program needs of staff and multi-sectorial needs of beneficiaries, map points of services, and identify partners.
- Develop and submit detailed and updated program implementation plans including work plans, HR plans, and procurement plans, training plans, with the aim of contributing to the achievement of program goals, objectives, and activities.
- Support in the organization and in the delivery of program training to IMC and Partner’s staff so as to develop and update the training plans to be submitted on monthly basis.
- Attend IMC training when such training is planned and implemented.
- Attend regular meetings with the Senior Program Officer/Program Manager planned on a weekly or biweekly basis.
- Visit program sites and locations at least 50% of his/her time to provide support to staff, assess the situation and coordinate with local actors, conduct team meetings to update the field team about the program and policy, and follow up on implementation and quality of the activities.
- Contribute to report writing and updating the ITTs on weekly / monthly and quarterly reports and ensure it is shared and accessible accordingly.
- Receive success stories from the field teams, translate them into English, clean, present, and submit monthly/ quarterly reports.
- In addition to the above, the CP Officer will be required to support other project-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
