SUMMARY:
Manages and leads FW and DHC-8 Flight Crews, assigns and oversees missions as directed by the Country/Site Operations Manager in direct support of U.S. Department of State (DoS) mission requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages, supervises, schedules and directs training of assigned DHC-8 rated and non-rated crew members in order to safely and effectively provide aviation support services to the Department of State in OCONUS locations.
- Perform duties as a Pilot, Pilot-in- Command, Air Mission Commander, Flight Lead, or Lead Pilot
- Leads flights as required.
- Ensures only qualified and current crew members are scheduled for flights.
- Over sees Operational Risk Management protocols at the Site/Country are actively followed and fully considered when determining crew pairings and assignments.
- Ensures appropriate preparation of flight plans, considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise data, airport facilities and navigational aids, threat and crew experience.
- Performs routine travel inside and outside the CONUS, as needed.
- Position requires a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Will delegate functions to other PCs, but retains overall responsibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate Airplane MEL.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical certificate.
- Minimum two (2) years managing Flight Operations program.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating Course in the selected type required before assignment
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours including 500 hours of turbine multi-engine time.
- 250 hours multi-engine pilot in command time.
- 2 years managing a flight operations program.
- Unrestricted type rating is required and will be obtained before or incident to assignment.
PREFERRED:
- Former US Military rated pilot with operational leadership experience and/or prior pilot support on the DoS INL/A program
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating from the FAA.
