Summary
The American University of Iraq—Baghdad (AUIB) is seeking two dynamic and experienced individuals to serve as the inaugural faculty for the College of Engineering at AUIB. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching engineering and computer science classes, updating curriculum, recruiting students, establishing relationships with industry, and ensuing academic excellence throughout the new AUIB College of Engineering. The two faculty will play a pivotal role in creating the “theory and practice” model of LTU to the AUIB College of Engineering.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The faculty reports to the Dean and is responsible for advancing the courses, programs, degrees & infrastructure for the COE at AUIB:
- Teaches and develops undergraduate and graduate courses in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
- Build sustainable and strong connections with faculty at LTU and ensure a smooth transition from AUIB to LTU.
- Develops and sustains strong externally-funded research programs.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop opportunities for exchange programs between LTU and AUIB, particularly in the summer semesters.
- Develop and Direct engineering and computer science projects.
- Participate in professional and university service activities.
- Keep regular office hours to provide easy access to students and fellow faculty.
- Maintain current knowledge and field expertise.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Develop and execute assessment procedures and processes for the courses he/she teaches.
- Support, maintain and advance all accreditation efforts.
Education And/or Experience
Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering and Computer Science; more than 10 years of related experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Skills And Abilities
Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
