Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) gGmbH is a German media development organisation that implements projects in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. MiCT’s activities focus on the interplay between conflict, media coverage and reconciliation.
For the past 12 years MiCT has been conducting investigative reporting training and has produced investigative reports in cooperation with local journalists in Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan & South Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, as well as several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

About the Project:
This initiative empowers Iraqi female journalists through collaborative journalism, equipping them to drive change, promote accountability, and produce impactful investigations on pressing issues. The regular exchange between regional and national media professionals enhances the entire Iraqi media sector, strengthening its resilience. MiCT will support 15 journalists in groups of five, offering a fellowship with in-person and online mentoring sessions and workshops to facilitate successful collaborative investigations.
The Finance and Logistics Assistant will support the Project Coordinator, based in Baghdad with all finance and logistic components of the project and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Objective 1: Logistics support – support PC and HQ office with logistics/procurement.
- Schedule and provide logistical support for project events, including during trainings, and team events (Programs/finance/ME) in collaboration with the PC.
- Identify suppliers, collect quotations and ensure all needed information is filled according to internal procedures & donor regulations in collaboration with the PC.
- Ensure completion and proper filing system of all procurement files and support documents.
- Negotiate item prices, delivery time and other relevant terms with suppliers in the best interest of MiCT.
- Ensure continuous market survey to inform pricing of items/event halls
- Support the resolution of any issues related to procurement and logistics.
Objective 2: Finance and Operations support
- Maintain manual accounting/reconciliation of bank and cash entries and coordinate with Finance in HQ
- Clearing of operational payment advances from vendor accounts;
- Undertake regular physical cash count on a monthly basis;
- Support in monitoring project expenditure, provide regular and accurate burn-rate updates to programme managers on the available budget balances for better planning;
- Monitor logistical and administrative arrangements for the implementation of the projects, including partner agreements, contracts;
- Provide support to the Finance team on the day-to-day financial transactions;
- Prepare Payment Vouchers, ensuring that all correct supporting documentation is attached, and appropriate authorizations received
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, project management or business administration.
- At least 1 year experience in financial reporting, compliance, and business processes for projects funded.
- Demonstrated experience in managing procurement and grant processes
- High level of computer literacy, in particular, experience in MS Office specifically EXCEL.
- Experience in preparation of budgets, financial reporting and monitoring of budget and cash flows.
- Dealing with different reporting requirements in multi-currency-donor projects
- Proficiency in Arabic and English languages is required.
The salary is an early career salary ranging from 1,200EUR – 1,500EUR/month (1,734,033IQD – 2,178,792 IQD). This position is based in Baghdad and will be paid in IQD.
