Radio Technician

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

As a Radio Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing enterprise radio networks, ensuring mission-critical resources are always available. This position requires extensive knowledge of HF/VHF/UHF systems, including cryptographic interfaces, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair radio equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with Motorola, Codan, and Kenwood radio systems, as well as tower climbing certification and expertise in working with various radio hardware and software.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Radio Technician: Pay commensurate with experience.

Radio Technician Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain all aspects of an enterprise radio network, including base stations, repeaters, cabling, duplexers, and antennas.
  • Provide radio frequency and land mobile radio support for Motorola, Codan, and Kenwood radio systems.
  • Install, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade radio equipment, including repeaters, antennas, base stations, vehicle radios, and handheld radios.
  • Conduct technical site surveys to determine structural and technical requirements for radio installations.
  • Perform ad-hoc and scheduled operational testing of radio network components.
  • Troubleshoot and perform field-level maintenance to sustain mission-critical communications.
  • Travel to off-site locations to install, upgrade, and maintain radio equipment.
  • Refresh encryption keys on individual units in accordance with security standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Radio Technician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience OR 13 years job-related experience in lieu of education.
  • Extensive knowledge of HF/VHF/UHF systems, cryptographic interfaces, and safety regulations.
  • Certification in tower climbing.
  • Motorola Business Radio Certification, Motorola MOTOTRBO digital trunking, and Kenwood Radio hardware and software proficiency.
  • Experience with hardware procurement, logistics, and maintenance programs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 100 meters.
  • Proficiency in manual installation operations and equipment handling.
  • Experience with electrical systems and US electrical code compliance.
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training for newly hired staff members.
    • Clearance Level Required: Secret.
    • Ability to pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
