The company is a leading multi-energy company engaged in the development of Solar, Water, Gas, and Electricity projects in Iraq. Ratawi is an onshore field in a remote area approximately 1.5 hours from Basra city, featuring 53 legacy wells. The field produces light or heavy oil from several reservoirs with the presence of CO2 and H2S.
This role is critical for ensuring that all safety and environmental regulations are adhered to during drilling and completion operations, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the field operations.
Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or any science-related field.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in the Oil and Gas industry, with at least 5 years in Safety (or equivalent) in Drilling and Completion operations. Mandatory experience working in environments with high H2S concentrations. Exposure to onshore operations is advantageous.
- Skills: Dynamic, proactive, organized, detail-oriented, fluent in English (both oral and written).
Main Accountabilities
- Advisory Role:
- Advise the Company’s Drilling & Completion / Well Intervention Senior Supervisor on Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) matters.
- Ensure activities comply with the Company’s HSE Policies and procedures, including Procedures, Downgraded Situation Management Plan, Oil Spill Contingency Plan, Waste Management Plan, Bridging Documents, and Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC).
- Ensure site HSE reporting, reviews, and audits are conducted as required.
Communicate all serious incidents/accidents to the Senior Supervisor immediately and ensure timely investigation, analysis, and classification.
Support
- Control the Company’s HSE Management System and bridging documents requirements between Contractors and the Company.
- Support the Senior Supervisor in identifying and minimizing risks, especially in downgraded situations. Participate in Operational Risk Analysis and job analysis for critical tasks.
- Participate in kick-off meetings, pre-spud meetings, daily meetings, and randomly in pre-job meetings.
- Deliver HSE inductions at activity sites and ensure compliance with the Company’s HSE Objectives through progress follow-up.
- Communicate Return-on-Experience (REX) on all HSE-related matters and participate in HSE performance improvement initiatives.
- Implement the Company’s HSE campaigns and coordinate the implementation and updating of Contractors’ emergency plans.
- Collaborate in organizing emergency/accident drills and participate in Cause Tree Analysis as needed. Consolidate and issue investigation reports and follow up on action implementation.
- Organize and prepare Site HSE Committee presentations and minutes, verify location status post-rig decommissioning, and ensure road safety before starting Drilling Transport Management.
- Assist in Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) follow-up and ensure compliance with the Company’s Waste Management Plan.
Reporting
- Monitor and report HSE key performance indicators (KPI) set by the Company.
- Maintain updated HSE boards at activity sites and manage the Synergi system for case uploads, updates, follow-ups, and closures.
- Record corrective actions arising from audits, HSE tours, and incident/accident reports.
Audits And Inspections
- Contribute to the organization of internal/external audits, technical reviews, and HSE tours. Follow up on actions taken.
- Perform spot audits, including checks of vehicles, Contractor’s facilities, camp, equipment and tools, canteen, etc.
- Control FiFi systems, means of evacuation/rescue, and meeting points.
