Qualifications

  • You should possess a keen, hard-earned storytelling sense, the ability to think critically and maintain high-level perspective from within the fray, and a nose for how Cali & Kira should respond to news
  • You should also have good taste (and the means to manifest it), flexibility, grace, understanding and the ability to calmly respond to, synthesize and execute on feedback, sometimes urgently
  • Your ideal skill base would be wrought from experience on post-production in a digital news, social media, nonfiction or nonprofit media production environment with high output and tight deadlines
  • The ability to do some medium-duty motion graphics and a history of fanatical pursuit of one or more of our sports and/or deep engagement with grassroots environmental activism is requisite
  • Understanding of footage and music licensing, releases and permits
  • Timeliness- Work efficiently, on deadline, and within budget, in a style consistent with established standards
  • Inclusive: deeply experienced in collaborating with others across difference and bringing in new perspectives and underrepresented narratives through film and digital mediums
  • Detail-oriented: Very astute navigating technology and incredibly organized managing many small details
  • 4+ Years of experience working in a deadline-focused production environment, namely digital media, social media, news, nonfiction television, nonprofit media and/or journalism
  • Experience in editing short form video for social media platforms
  • Experience editing pieces that are audio-only, working with enhanced audio slideshows
  • Extensive post-production experience, including incorporating graphics onscreen, quick-turn color-grading, dialog editing, sound design and audio mixing
  • Proven track record of great, public facing work
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Working in a highly collaborative environment

  • You will also edit some internal-only videos and will likely be called on to save the day in occasional triage situations
  • Your projects will be consistent with the established style and brand standards of Cali & Kira
  • Edit and craft short-form video and multimedia projects on quick timelines in collaboration with internal — and occasionally external — teams (i.e. video producers, content, category writer-editors and photo)
  • Edit internal-only videos (global sales meeting assets, PR assets, HR assets)
  • Follow environmental, activism and sport-related news and help determine, in collaboration with producers, category editors and the content team whether and how Patagonia should respond
  • Work with reporters and writers, including ambassadors, category editors and freelancers to bring written pieces to life in other media
  • Help determine what platform(s) best serve the stories we’re telling and how best to show up there, then execute on that direction
  • Work efficiently, on deadline, and within budget, in a style consistent with established standards
  • Efficiently and gracefully manage multiple projects at a time

What You’ll Be Working On

As Contract Digital Media Editor, you will be responsible for crafting and editing smart, useful, sometimes funny, always compelling, high production value multimedia storytelling assets on short timelines in cooperation with internal video producers, community managers, category writer-editors and the content team. You will also edit some internal-only videos and will likely be called on to save the day in occasional triage situations. All of this in the interest of inciting action on behalf of our home planet and inspiring more people to help save it. Your projects will be consistent with the established style and brand standards of Cali & Kira.
