Secretary of the Navy Offices (SECNAV)

Duties

  • You MUST be a Permanent, Current Department of Navy employee to be considered for a Ministry of Defense Advisor position.
  • This is a Temporary Change of Station (TCS) assignment away from your parent command for 12 – 24 months with the right to return to your position of record or equivalent position in the same commuting area following your deployment.
  • Volunteers are deployed and paid at their current pay level plus applicable pay benefits, e.g., post differential, regardless of the position occupied.
  • Your normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, working 8 hours per day.
  • This is an accompanied tour.
  • You will hold and maintain a security clearance at the level specified for the position.
  • You will be self-motivated, expected to receive and complete work assignments without further prompting.
  • You will be expected to follow a checklist of pre-deployment tasks, to include online training, administrative tasks, and medical screenings.
  • You MUST gain parent/home organization approval within two weeks after applying for a MoDA opportunity.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Security Requirement: Secret
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country’s laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to undergo a Medical Examination at a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).

Qualifications

GS-14 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional SENIOR LOGISTICS ADVISOR performing the following duties: 1) Advise employees on a logistics program goals and objectives; 2) Plan work operations to meet emergency or changing program requirements; and 3) Train logistics staff to increase quality of work and support to customers.

GS-13 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional SENIOR LOGISTICS ADVISOR performing the following duties: 1) Analyze logistics data to make recommendations on integrated product support decisions; 2) Collaborate with foreign customer’s acquisition and logistics organizations to evaluate their requirements, preferences and existing business practices and 3) Explain the execution of acquisition planning or logistics tasks in support of assigned programs.

Selection for deployment with the (MoDA) Ministry of Defense Advisors program may be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements.

While deployed with the Ministry of Defense Advisors (MoDA) Program in a TCS status, you are eligible to continue Federal Employees Group Life Insurance Coverage (FEGLI); deployment does not cancel FEGLI coverage. Additionally, if you deploy in support of a contingency operation and if as a civilian employee you have previously waived some or all FEGLI coverage, you may elect the following FEGLI coverage outside an open season, without experiencing a qualifying life event, and without providing medical information: Basic coverage; and if you already have or elect Basic, you may also may elect Option A (Standard) coverage, and/or Option B (Additional) coverage. To elect/increase your FEGLI coverage once you an official MoDA Selection Letter, you may call the Benefits line at 1-888-320-2917, option 4.
