Overview
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.
The project aims to improve the living conditions and dignity of vulnerable communities in the governorate of Nineveh by supporting health management through:
- Increasing the capacity to prevent and manage diseases related to sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health and non-communicable diseases;
- Provision of quality primary and secondary health services;
- Strengthening of WASH infrastructure and its management in conflict-affected health facilities;
- Strengthening the technical capacity of local health personnel.
The Technical Supervisor (TS) oversees MHPSS technical activities, follows up the case management and support capacity building. He reports to the Project Manager. He/She technically coordinates and supervises the MHPSS activities of the Community Health Workers and the Psychologists. Provides guidance and supervision to the Community Health Workers and the Psychologists. Collaborates with the Medical Coordinator in case of emergency. Conducts training needs assessment for medical and non-medical staff. Collaborates with UPP TA and Medical Coordinator for facilitation of training. Coordinates, promotes and manages the awareness activities according to needs assessments proactively organized by the MHPSS Technical Supervisor him/herself.
Responsibilities
Supervision
- Technical documented supervision of field staff and activity implementation, including MHPSS case management, individual sessions and support groups activities;
- Technical supervision of the Psychologist, and Community Health Workers including shadowing of activities in presence;
- Weekly individual supervision session for the Psychologist and Community Health Workers. Within these sessions he/she discusses the handling of new and follows up cases as well as reviews the documentation of those with the Psychologist, Community Health Workers;
- Supervision of the weekly agenda in the PHCs (in collaboration with the Field Officer);
- Provision of technical feedback to build appropriate treatment plan according the PoC needs;
- Conduction regular case file audit and check quality and consistency of work, ensuring that all decisions made to support the client are recorded on case files;
- Ensure that all team members apply the company’s internal procedures and SOPs
Referrals and Case Management
- Regularly monitors and reviews all aspects of Case Management (CM);
- Organization and lead of regular team case management meetings to discuss the new cases and the general existing process;
- Organization of regular team case management meeting, and the facilitation of case conference meeting when needed;
- Reviews/analyses caseload trends in order to inform programming;
- Ensures that decisions are appropriately recorded on case files;
- Supports the definition of adequate and integrated treatment plans, from both a clinical and a social perspective.
- Arranges and/or participates in interagency case conferences with technical focal point from other actors in MHPSS as well as other sectors (i.e. protection/GBV/community services/health).
Management of the emergencies
- Manages-in cooperation of the PM and the Medical Coordinator – the mental health emergencies after psychologists working hours, in line with the MHPSS emergency plan and reports to the PM.
Human Resources and Capacity Building
- Reviews staff caseload and ensures the staff wellbeing;
- Supports PM and TA in conducting all relevant trainings to UPP and Non-UPP staff.
- Participate in the recruitment process, evaluate CVs, interviews, and complete all reports related to the recruitment process.
Documentation and Reporting
- Submits monthly reports to the TA, highlighting progresses, achievements, challenges;
- Submits monthly supervision documentation to the PM;
- Supports the PM and TA in general reporting and documentation purposes.
- Review the reports requested from the Psychologist and Community Health Workers.
- Support data entry on the project database;
- Supports the PM for Donor reporting.
Qualifications & Â Skills
Education:Â
- University degree in Clinical Psychology, psychology or a related fields
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experiences as a psychologist in a clinical setting (i.e., psychiatric hospital, PHCCs, private facilities).
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in providing supervision in clinical setting (i.e., psychiatric hospital, PHCCs, private facilities).
- Proven experience with case management procedures for at least 1 year.
- Understanding of legal framework of humanitarian operations, as well as gender, protection, social or human vulnerability issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
- Attention to detail and preciseness
- Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
- Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
- Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with WHO Thinking Healthy approach.
- Familiarity with medical database.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Literacy in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Personal integrity and credibility
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Excellent reactivity and flexibility in all circumstances
- Knowledge of using Kobo forms on tablets.
- Reporting skills
Languages:
Excellent communication skills verbal and written Kurdish, Arabic and English.
