DUTIES:
- The Bulk Mail Specialist serves as intermediary and spokesperson for the office and continually addresses concerns and issues surrounding the sending, receiving, and processing of DPO mail.
- Is responsible for the day-to-day operation of their assigned facility.
- May also supervise the receipt and allocation of office supplies.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Implementing mail policies and procedures in accordance with 14 FAM 700, USPS Regulations, and USPS Postal Bulletins
- Supervises inventory, checks and reorders items as needed.
- Enforce adherence to mail policies and procedures by all authorized postal patrons.
- Report all misuse or abuse of privileges immediately to IPO IAW established procedures.
- Sending and receiving of USPS mail
- Distribution and secure storage USPS mail
- Properly inspect and screen all mail for contaminants (i.e., white powder) and other security concerns IAW DoS guidelines
- Serves as the on-site point of contact (POC) for formal discussions with subcontractors, including frequent interaction with the intent to sustain and foster positive relations.
- Supervises mailroom activities, including the sorting and delivery of incoming mail, as well as the preparation and sending of outgoing mail.
- Works in conjunction with locally employed (Iraqi) colleagues and military staff.
- Escorting local mail trucks.
- Operate equipment and machinery assigned to the jurisdiction of the Regional Mail Distribution Facility (forklift, pallet jacks, X-ray machine).
- In addition, may perform any of the following duties: make occasional simple distribution of DPO and parcel post mail that requires no scheme knowledge; operate electric or diesel fork lifts; rewrap damaged parcels; repair damaged mail or pouch bags, weigh incoming sacks; clean and sweep work areas, offices rest rooms, and trucks where work is not performed by a regular cleaner.
- Engaging in customer service and Click-N-Ship.
- Additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
- Home of Record Driver’s License – no restrictions
REQUIRED:
- Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Two – Three (2-3) years’ experience in USPS (United States Postal Service) and/or Diplomatic DPO Mail, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role. One – Three (1-3) years’ experience in USPS (United States Postal Service) Warehouse and/or Joint Military Mail Terminal (JMMT)
- The incumbent must have superior customer service and interpersonal skills, must adapt easily to foreign cultures, and be able to communicate effectively in environments where English is not spoken fluidly.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of ALL principles and processes involved in management of mail services.
- Demonstrated ability to perform as an DPO Mail Augmentee, with a working knowledge of technical areas.
- Must be able to establish rapport and develop relationships with mission personnel as one of the section’s most visible representatives.
- Must exercise good judgment when interacting with all DPO patrons.
- Successful management of multiple sites in geographically dispersed locations
- Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Experience in effectively dealing with international and headquarters staff, and sensitivity to other cultures.
- Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
- Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
- Passport, Licenses and Certifications:
- As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
- Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Security Vetting: Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or be able to obtain a favorable US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.
- Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
- Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
DESIRED:
- Department of State experience
One (1) year of international experience in challenging locations, preferably working in the Middle East, with a working knowledge of customs and cultural differences
