DRC (Danish Refugee Council)

Description

In 2003, following the start of foreign military operations in Iraq, DRC became one of the first organisations to provide humanitarian assistance in the country and now operates in 11 governorates, including Anbar, Baghdad, Babel, Diyala, Duhok, Erbil, Karbala, Kirkuk, Najaf, Ninewa and Salah-al-Din.

 

The overall purpose of the role

Under the supervision of the CCCM Team Leader, the CCCM’S Assistant role will be:

The Camp Management Assistant will implement planned activities in informal settlement IDPs. The Camp Management Assistant will focus primarily on two-way communication with IDP representatives, needs identification, documentation, and referrals/service requests, in addition to regular liaising with stakeholders. The Camp Management Officer will provide supervisory support to Assistants and report directly CM Team Leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure regular contact (physical or through phone calls) and collected-specific information/updates from camp management or IDP site representatives  
  • Attend meetings with various stakeholders, including national authorities and IDPs as requested 
  • Assist in identifying needs, services, gaps, and duplications in all targeted sit The documented, track and provide timely referrals and service requests to specialist service providers 
  • Carry out awareness campaigns or information dissemination to IDP populations using various communication methods, ensuring they are understandable by the IDP community 
  • Maintain and keep updated Excel databases  
  • Provide accurate and timely information that supports the drafting of weekly situation reports and  other updates 
  • Oversee the work of volunteer community mobilizers  
  • Carry out and supervise data collection in CM sites  
  • Support the CM Officer and CM Team Leader in any other duties, as needed

 


Qualifications


Experience and technical competencies:

 

  • Significant proven work experience in supervising construction projects as well as publicly driven activities, especially humanitarian activities with previous INGO experience.
  • At least 2-year proven experience in BoQ preparation and assigning/monitoring responsibilities to the team members to achieve project goals
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic is
  • Proficiency in the following computer programs: MS Excel, MS Word, and AutoCAD/SketchUp as well as the usage of an e-mail client (like outlook) for communication.
  • Proficiency in usage of data collection using Survey CT, KoBo) or similar tools to collect the on-site data get the results, and convert it into a professional informative report.
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a complex multicultural environment as a flexible and respectful team
  • Willingness and capacity to work in the field and travel frequently to project sites when
  • Willingness and capacity to work outside of regular working days (national holidays or extra hours) in case of emergency
  • Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable people, taking into account gender, age, and
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team to achieve joint objectives, in a multicultural
  • Ability to act calmly intense situations, handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and act with transparency and
  • Solution-oriented approach, with strong problem-solving and analytical
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to organize and manage information, plan and manage workload, prioritize, and deliver to
  • Familiarity with international humanitarian and protection standards

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, significant proven field experience may be accepted in lieu.

Languages: 

Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic is essential
