Baghdad Medical Rehabilitation Centre
The MSF Baghdad Rehabilitation Centre (BMRC) intends to offer early comprehensive care with medical services post surgery to the patients with trauma that resulted in fractures and or amputation in the lower limbs, fractures in the upper limbs. Comprehensive Medical services include: early physiotherapy, nursing care, pain management and psychological support. BMRC works also in partnership with Amman RSP for providing comprehensive medical care to Iraqi war victims who needs reconstructive surgeries.

Main Purpose:
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.
Scope of responsibilities:
Patient Identification and Referral:
- Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
- Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her specialty.
- Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
- Carry out and/or supervise the ( decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.)in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
- Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
- Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
- The BMRC Nurse Supervisor works in close collaboration with all the medical team and all managerial positions under the supervision of the Head Nurse or Medical Activity Manager or Medical Team Leader. Coordination of the activities
- Defining nursing objectives, identifying needs, promoting, developing/amending nursing guidelines and protocols and collaborating with other medical candidates to achieve training objectives.
- Participating at OPD meetings, admission committees and other meetings, and facilitating collaborations and flow of information between locations, departments and all team members.
- Making suggestions and propositions for improving current practices.
- Coordinating with logistics to ensure that the infrastructure is maintained in good condition, kept and transfer sys-items in the hospital are organized (e.g. patients and medicines) ensuring appropriate staff and support equipment.
- Support the decentralization activity by providing technical training and capacity building inside MoH facilities when its needed.
Infection management:
- Ensuring the promotion and adherence to infection control standards and isolation measures within the health facility.
- Making regular auditing (hand hygiene audits on daily basis by using the mobile application HHOT, extracting monthly analysis through power Bi; SIPCA analysis every 6 months; sterilization and patient care units audits every year) and sharing these audits with the team looking for improvement.
- Participate in IPC Committee with designing action plans in collaboration with the hospital team.
- Collecting and analyzing IPC data through the hygiene monthly report in collaboration with Antibiotic Stewardship Field Referent; detect the prevalence of hospital infection and detect any problematic due to spreading of infection.
- Organizing regular training plan about IPC and regular sessions about accidental exposure to blood prevention.
- Following-up the cases of accidental exposure to blood in close collaboration with the MAM and ensuring the follow-up of each case is fulfilled according to the guideline.
- Data elaboration and EMR implementation
- Ensuring proper and timely data collection by supervising and supporting the medical secretary in scheduling patients.
- Assisting in the analysis of monthly data for OPD and preparing monthly SitReps.
- HR and finance management
- The staff under his /her responsibility and taking the appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary follows ensuring rules and regulations (incident reports, warnings, etc.).
- Ensuring the newly recruited staff under his/her responsibility receive a complete briefing about their roles within the BMRC team and towards the patients.
- Anticipating and identifying needs and requesting items needed before monthly cash request.

Education |
Diploma in nursing is essential. (Surgical/OT unit nurse is an asset) Â |
Experience |
Essential 2 years of previous experience in nursing care. Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable.  |
Languages                                 |
