Position Overview And Primary Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)

The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining all aspects of an enterprise network and ensuring that mission-critical resources are always available, which encompasses workstations, servers, printers and related networked equipment. The Systems Administrator also provides Help Desk support to end-users.

Primary/Major Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Primary point of contact for user support requests and provides staffing for the Baghdad Information Systems Center (ISC)
  • Maintains all aspects of an enterprise network including workstations and servers
  • Ensures mission-critical resources are always available when needed
  • Performs installation of new workstations
  • Demonstrates problem resolution with but not limited to: OpenNet account transfer, mailbox transfer, equipment installation, system errors, system outages, etc.
  • Works in conjunction with Systems Administrator WAN/LAN, SharePoint Applications Developer and/or the Network Engineer to identify and troubleshoot major system outages that cause recurring problems that may impact users
  • May travel to off-site locations to provide additional support for the installation and maintenance of equipment, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and support the incumbent for special projects

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or 13 years job related experience in lieu of education
  • CompTIA Security + or equivalent required
  • CompTIA A+ certification desired
  • Microsoft certification desired
  • Clearance Level Required: Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SANs)
  • Knowledge of common hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of common operating systems tasks
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures for common systems tasks
  • Knowledge of Installation and support for common off-the-shelf (COTS) applications
  • Previous Help Desk experience
  • Installing and maintaining SharePoint servers
  • Installing and maintaining Microsoft SQL servers
  • Ability to travel as required
