As a Network/Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of inside/outside telecommunications and data network infrastructure and cabling. Serving as the primary point of contact for all Information Resource Management (IRM) wiring and cabling requirements for the Baghdad Embassy Compound (BEC) and constituent posts, you will coordinate with various IRM sub-sections and other relevant sections/agencies. Your duties will include installing, terminating, and labeling new cabling, performing preventative maintenance on infrastructure, creating/updating diagrams and cable schematics, and troubleshooting network issues using specialized software and hardware tools.

- Estimated Starting Salary Range for Network/Cabling Engineer: Pay commensurate with experience.

Network/Cabling Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Maintaining inside/outside telecommunications and data network infrastructure and cabling
- Serving as primary point of contact for IRM wiring and cabling requirements
- Coordinating with various IRM sub-sections and other relevant sections/agencies
- Proper grounding of communications equipment and hardware
- Preparing cable, fiber, switchboard, or power for terminations
- Performing preventative maintenance on infrastructure
- Installing, terminating, and labeling new cabling
- Creating and updating diagrams and cable schematics
- Troubleshooting network issues using specialized software and hardware tools; such as, but not limited to Netview, Solarwinds utilities, LAN analyzer, signal generator, data line test set, and power line monitor
- Operates test equipment to include oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, tone generators, optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR) and optical power meters
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Network/Cabling Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Five (5) years’ experience in the telecommunications industry required
- Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) or higher desirable
- Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS) or higher desirable
- Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Certification required
- BICSI Installer 1, BICSI Installer 2, and BICSI Installer 2 Optical Fiber or equivalent required
- ICT Design Fundamentals certification desired
- Experience in the installation, termination, and testing of CAT 5, 5e, 6 premise wiring and ISP/OSP fiber optic single-mode/multi-mode cabling
- Knowledge of DC power systems, OSHA standards, safety, and quality practices
- Experience installing/configuring/maintaining Cisco network switches
- Experience installing/configuring/maintaining Avaya PBX and client switches
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
- Ability to plan, organize, and pay strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficient using Microsoft Visio
- Ability to travel within the country as required
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
