Description


Your responsibilities:

  • Working under the direct supervision of the IMDAD Project Coordinator and in close coordination with the field team and keeping the MI Program Team informed of all activities conducted in the field through a bi-weekly report
  • Conducting at least 10 Key Informant Interviews (KII) with government agencies and authorities as well as Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with an association of farmers and analyzing the collected data to discuss the existing opportunities and most gaps in agriculture
  • Conducting a secondary data analysis to gain understanding of the needs of the agriculture sector in Ninawa Governorate as well as preparing a detailed report, based on quantitative analysis including: Observations, recommendations, suggestions, and a plan for implementation
  • Creating a registration questionnaire that meets the requirements of the program and conducting one-on-one interviews with all 40 individuals ultimately selected to understand their approach and suggestions
  • Creating and implementing a curriculum for a five-day training on specific and pre-approved topics based on well-developed agendas, including a pre- and post-training exam (the training must be in the local language, i.e. preferably Arabic)
  • Developing a business plan and skill requirements in collaboration with the 40 farmers, based on a scientific approach, in the form of a seasonal table of crops and a detailed SWOT analysis for each farmer
  • Conducting three extension visits to each of the 40 farmers after they have received the grant 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree, in agriculture sciences or related fields and minimum 5 years’ experience in working in the livelihood and agriculture sector, including areas of crop farming, livestock, irrigation systems, poultry, Animal feeding, Hydroponic/Aquaculture farming, fish farming, and agricultural machines/equipment
  • Holder of Iraqi Agriculture Engineers Association ID and well knowledge in Iraqi laws and policies, especially related to the agriculture sector
  • Experience in training and curriculum development and at least 1 year of business training experience, preferably with experience working with low-literacy populations
  • Fluent in local languages i.e. Arabic and Kurdish and knowledge of English; an ability to write reports in English is preferable
  • Knowledge of the IDPs profile in Ninawa
  • Excellent coordination skills as well as strategic, creative, and innovative thinking
  • Practice in community development and ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, stressful environments, and physical hardship conditions
