Job description:

As part of its juvenile justice activities, Tdh will conduct individual counselling for children in detention, to support the process of reintegration in society and foster rehabilitation opportunites,. Tdh seeks to recruit professionals who have strong communication and psychosocial support skills, and build their competencies as to enable them provide counselling to children/youth in detention under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. The lay counsellors will collaborate with other social workers that provide other services to the beneficiaries, as to complement efforts that favour a sustainable reintegration of children.

 

 

 

Main responsibilities :

1.      Counselling

1.1   Provide counselling and therapy sessions to individual cases that have been identified as needing psychological support, and which have been referred by team and/ or other stakeholders.

1.2   Facilitate group sessions as part of a therapy identified by the supervisor

1.3   Conduct psychosocial assessments, including assessment of mental health needs using strictly methodologies assigned by the supervisor

1.4   Support the implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions utilizing appropriate and evidence based interventions as indicated by the supervisor.

1.5   Carry out other tasks as assigned by line manager as required

1.6   Ensure appropriate follow up of the cases

 

2.      Coordination with other teams and services

2.1   Disseminate information regarding available resources and services provided in the area of intervention and other areas

2.2   Work in coordination with other teams to identify child protection concerns and children in need of case management services

 

3.      Resource management, data management, and reporting

3.1   Use programme resources effectively and with care

3.2   Ensure proper record keeping of cases, ensuring confidentiality, and ensure that data collected is received and recorded by the data management staff in a timely and accurate manner.

3.3   Identify logistic and admin support needs related to the case management activities, and communicates these to the relevant log/admin support person, with the knowledge of his/her supervisor.

3.4   Ensure appropriate management and storage of program material, equipment, information.

 

4.      Problem-solving and team work

4.1   Contribute to the management of programme activities, according to the strategies communicated by line managers and the overall programme manager, in order to reach programme objectives

4.2   Develop common priority actions leading to solutions to the identified problems

4.3   Identify the problems associated with the delivery of the programme and inform line manager, HR, logistics, beneficiaries in accordance with line manager’s orientations

4.4   Attend and take part in the meetings necessary for passing on information for the smooth running of activities

4.5   Help line manager in setting up the activities schedule every week

4.6   Attend relevant trainings on Protection, Child Protection, Case Management, CCCM and others, in accordance with the line management.

 


Qualifications &  Skills


Required Competencies: This function requires the mastery of Personal, Social and Leadership Competencies (PSLC), Technical and Methodological Competencies (TMC)

In particular:

·        Good command of Arabic and English are required.

·        Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (social work, psychology, education, social sciences, etc.).

·        Superior organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and to take initiative, with a result-oriented approach and positive attitude.

·        At least three years of humanitarian experience is required. Previous NGO experience, and especially counselling/psychosocial support experience, is a distinct advantage.

·        The ability to communicate effectively with children and adults, local authorities and other partners, and express oneself in a clear and concise way.

·        Ability to work in unstable, uncertain or potentially dangerous environments, independently and in a team.

·        Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience skills.
