Our mission is to save lives through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations and conflict. Action Against Hunger intervenes in four main areas: Nutrition, Mental Health & Care Practices; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Food Security and Livelihoods; Advocacy and Raising Awareness.

 

Action Against Hunger is looking for a Logistics Intern based in its office in Erbil.

 

Work place: Erbil.

 

Type of contract: Initially 6 months Paid Internship with the possibility of extension.

 

Working Hours: Full Time Contract of minimum 40 hours per week up to a maximum of 48 hours per week.

Action Against Hunger (ACF) Responsibilities:

It is Action Against Hunger’s responsibility as hirer to ensure that the intern will have a productive learning experience when hired. As part of the arrangement the following obligation need to be fulfilled:

  • To manage administratively the intern (timesheet, absence, etc.);
  • To ensure that the intern’s skills and interest match ACF activities and mandate;
  • To provide clear set of responsibilities and scopes for work.
  • To provide clear performance evaluation criteria.
  • Provision of reimbursements for any transportation costs incurred for work-related activities (at a minimum, with other expenses based on paid internship status);
  • Training and protection on health and safety measures at work.
  • Provision health and life insurance to cover any harm resulted from work.
  • While it is not guaranteed, good performing interns will be considered as internal candidates for future employment opportunities with Action Against Hunger. All Action Against Hunger internal candidates receive additional prioritization in recruitment processes, which gives current and former ACF staff candidates a higher likelihood of recruitment for a position over most external candidates.

 

 

Intern’s Responsibilities:

  • To familiarize themselves with Action Against Hunger policies related to HR, safety and security, safeguarding and protection, as well as specific department guidelines,
  • To respect work schedules agreed with the line manager,
  • To behave in an appropriate, professional and compliant manner, as well as to behave in a manner that respects Action Against Hunger’s image during times when representing Action Against Hunger,
  • To uphold confidentiality related to company or personnel information to which the intern may have access, come into contact with and/or otherwise have exposure to as a result of their tenure with Action Against Hunger,
  • To respect and uphold best practices in relations with the ACTION AGAINST HUNGER safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policies during and after the working hours,
  • To Respect ACTION AGINST HUNGER security and safety protocols (please see guiding Local Security Operations Standards as well as HR Rules and Regulations),
  • To inform ACTION AGAINST HUNGER of any obligations to third parties that could affect ACF,
  • To report to ACTION AGAINST HUNGER any illness, operations or accidents that could prevent or impact the condition of the intern from committing to any given assignments,
  • To respect all rules of use and maintenance of all equipment given access to by ACTION AGAINST HUNGER,
  • To use with care and to return to ACTION AGAINST HUNGER, at the end of the placement, all material provided by ACTION AGAINST HUNGER.
  • To use their ACTION AGAINST HUNGER’s internship card (where available) only for strictly professional purposes;
  • To report, following the procedures in place, any breach of principles, values of which he or she is a victim or witness.

 

Logistics Intern’s Assignments/Objectives:

 

  • Support in the LINK online system archiving including uploading documents as per ACF Logistics policy and guidance from Coordination Logistics team;
  • Support in the archiving of the supply chain documents according to ACF Logistics policy and guidance from Coordination Logistics team;
  • Follow up on the daily workers with providing supervision on the archiving scanning/sorting process with providing scanning support when required;
  • Support the Coordination Logistics team when assessing the ACF premises maintenance needs to submit required Procurement Lines;
  • Support the Coordination Logistics team when assessing the Energy and Environment needs in the ACF premises;
  • Support the team on the advocacy and awareness in the ACF office on the proper energy usage and good environmental practices.
  • Support in updating the suppliers’ database.
  • Support on the fleet management of Coordination driver.

 

 

Internship Outcome and Benefits:

 

·       Receive a thorough training with a follow up on the Logistics department sectors:

–          Procurement & Supply Chain.

–          Fleet Management.

–          Energy & Environment.

–          Equipment & Assets Management.

–          Premises Management.

·       Exposure on the Supply Chain Management using professional online systems (LINK system).

·       Archiving system and archiving management of supply chain documents training.

·       Project Procurement Planning (PPP) training.

·       Interns with longer assignment over 3 months with a working schedule of 40 hours per week, will receive incentives as they contribute to Action against Hunger’s work which will represent the costs of standard organizational per diem and transportation allowances.

·       Interns will benefit from the organization’s health and life insurance.

·       Work accident: In the event of an injury related from work, Action Against Hunger (ACF) will cover all costs related to treatments.

·       Internship extension: the intern contract may be extended up to a total internship period of 1 year by mutual agreement from both parties.

·       Good performing interns will be considered as internal candidates for future employment opportunities with Action Against Hunger. All Action Against Hunger internal candidates (current and former ACF staff) receive additional prioritization in recruitment processes, which gives the intern a higher likelihood of recruitment for a position of a similar scope of work over most external candidates.

Qualification/Degree:

BACHELOR’S DEGREE preferably in Logistics or Equivalent College Level Qualification in Technical Engineering  (Environmental/Civil/Electrical/Mechanical) or Computer Science
