VACANCY: Movement Cooperation Officer

Job Title: Movement Cooperation Officer 2

Position grade (ICRC system): B2    

Duty Station: Iraq – Mosul Sub Delegation

Reports to: Head of Sub Delegation

Duration of Contract: 1-year fixed-term contract (with the possibility of renewal based on needs and performance).

Objective:

The Movement Cooperation Officer 2 will contribute to establishing and maintaining a conducive working relationship with Iraqi red crescent society branches. She/he will contribute to the rollout of the Safer Access File and mainstreaming partnership and cooperation within the delegation, fostering productive relationships with the different technical departments, and the Participating National Societies (PNS) present in the Mosul sub–Delegation Area of Responsibility (AoR) (Movement Coordination).

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Contributes to developing and implementing the ICRC objectives for cooperation with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (the Movement) in line with the ICRC’s (Iraqi red crescent society) Movement policies and ICRC Movement cooperation strategy.
  • Contribute to the rollout of the Safer Access File and mainstreaming partnership and cooperation within the ICRC, fostering productive relationships with the different technical departments, Iraqi red crescent society and the Participating National Societies present in Mosul SD AoR (Movement Coordination).
  • Contributes to implementing the operational partnership between the ICRC and the IRCS and PNSs by working closely with them to develop joint procedures and partnership agreements; develops the partnership skills of the ICRC and Movement partners.
  • Identifies the Iraqi red crescent society’s area of support to better set strategy and objectives for capacity-strengthening /enhancement and communicates them to relevant programmes.
  • Takes trips to the field to prepare and attend joint assessments and/or contribute to IRCS/Branch capacity-strengthening.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with IRCS technical staff on capacity-strengthening needs and support.
  • Contributes to maintaining a constant overview of the Movement’s activities, capacity and affairs; contributes to organizing various Movement meetings; supports the Movement Cooperation Coordinator and Head of Sub Delegation n issues related to coordination within the Movement.
  • Ensures that the IRCS provides operational and financial reports regularly and according to established formats and procedures; provides training and regular coaching in financial management and reporting to IRCS staff.

Qualifications


Education and Professional Experience required:

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent command (spoken and written) of English and Arabic. Knowledge of other languages spoken in Iraq is a strong asset.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of work experience in a field relevant to Movement Cooperation (inside or outside the ICRC).
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience as a Movement Cooperation Officer or 1 to 2 years’ international humanitarian work experience with the ICRC or any other Movement Component (NS and/or International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies).
