Brief description of the organization

Yazda is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2014 in response to the genocide committed by the self-declared Islamic State (“IS”) against the Yazidis and other communities in Iraq and Syria. Since its inception, Yazda has worked with local and international partners to provide Yazidi survivors, IDPs, and refugees with humanitarian, accountability, and advocacy services in their post-genocide recovery. Yazda has been working in Iraq since October 2014 and operates out of the main offices in Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and out of the Sinoni office in Sinjar in Nineveh Province. Yazda is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States and is registered in Erbil, Baghdad, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and Australia

Programming:

  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, carry out effective protection monitoring activities with efficiency and according to the allocated budget and timeframe.
  • Ensure quality implementation from Case Management and Legal teams
  • Accompany the field teams where possible to ensure activities are done in accordance with the best practices
  • Ensure enrolled beneficiaries meet the enrolment criteria of the project.
  • Conduct protection monitoring (including facilitating FGD, KII and site observations)
  • Monitor and report protection concerns, trends for analysis in areas of intervention.
  • Contribute to the development of monitoring tools
  • Participate in rapids needs assessments and protection analysis.
  • Monitor the provision of services to affected communities and areas of implementation.
  • Disseminate protection concerns with vulnerable individuals
  • Ensure that staff is aware of protection mechanisms and applies “do not harm” policies.

Representation:

  • Represent Yazda with community leaders, local authorities, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders
  • Connect different service providers with the case management team

Logistics/Finance:

  • Prepare timely procurement plans for legal and case management team.
  • Ensure the teams do not travel to unsafe areas.

 

 

 

 


Qualifications


Qualification:

  • Excellent knowledge of situation in Sinjar
  • Strong knowledge of human rights.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Minimum of two years of working with vulnerable people, mainly IDP’s, returnees and refugees. 

Minimum Experience: Minimum two years of relevant professional experience in a similar position. At least 2 years of experience working in NGOs and the humanitarian setting. Previous working experience with IDPs, refugees, and returnees.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Required Travel: 50 %
