QA/QC Engineer – Full Time – Basra, Iraq

Join our Services_EMEA team within Services division in Iraq as QA/QC Engineer.

Purpose of the job – to support the Quality Processes by completion of Inspection & Test Plans and procedures relating to welding and other specialist processes to ensure timely delivery of client projects.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Attend Order Review Meetings and develop Inspection & Test Plans for new projects through tracking all quality activities within the manufacturing cycle (from receipt of raw materials to final testing and dispatch).
  • Attend client kick off meetings / Pre-Inspection Meetings in order to obtain outline of project requirements.
  • Prepare project plans.
  • Determine the PS / SQA requirements that are applicable to ensure that components are ordered with the correct levels of quality to meet both Sulzer and Customer requirements.
  • Support Manufacturing and Assembly activities.
  • Generate drawings as required.
  • Deal with queries from purchasing/suppliers as to exact requirements of SQA / PS documents.
  • Provide input into partnership suppliers reviews on quality of items received and match to Sulzer requirements.
  • Provide input to tendering process on quality requirements required in OED.
  • Prepare documents for customer review and respond to comments made against these documents resolving any issues raised.
  • Develop Assembly Review Sheets from details contained in quality plan, advising production of particular requirements.
  • Attend project assembly review meetings as and when required to provide input and advise on quality element of assembly process.
  • Update Assembly Review Sheets on feedback received via NCRs.
  • Develop quality procedures.
  • Ensure all processes are completed within Sulzer and/or industry standards.
  • Completion of Non-Destructive Testing procedures and other specialist procedures (e.g. Hydro Test).
  • Undertake Certification Review as required.
  • Co-ordinate External Inspections as required.
  • Undertake material releases as required.
  • Familiar with the environmental aspects and impacts of the activities and processes involved in the role and the procedures, practices and measures to manage the impact.
  • Familiar with the risks and hazards within the activities and processes of the role and procedures, practices and measures in place to mitigate the risks.
  • Reporting on the performance of the quality management system and on opportunities for improvement, in particular to top management.
  • Ensuring that the integrity of the quality management system is maintained when changes to the quality management system are planner and implemented.

What you bring to Sulzer:

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Relevant experience within Oil&Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of quality processes and procedures.
  • Experience with Rotating Machinery such as pumps, compressors and turbines.
  • CAD experience.
  • Reverse Engineering experience.
  • Organisation skills.
  • Customer service skills

  • Ability to act independently.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
  • Attention to detail.
  • General computer skills.

Working shedule – rotation basis (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off).

Location – Basra, Iraq.
